Here’s a video of a few ships launching. I always thought they built them in dry dock and then filled the dock and it floated away. However, apparently I’m (at least slightly) wrong.

Having been on this cruise ship when it was hit by massive waves, I’ve had first hand experience of the power and danger of the seas, even for the largest of ships. Check this tanker taking on huge seas.
